Enjoy Your Pregnancy (EYP) classes aim to empower and inform parents to be in preparation for birth. They are designed to be especially useful for parents to be who have previously experienced episodes of low mood, stress, or are struggling with their current or changing life circumstances.
Covering the following topics:
Session 1: Helping you and your developing baby through your pregnancy journey.
Session 2: Staying Healthy, Happy and Active.
Session 3: Understanding your feelings.
Session 4: Noticing and changing unhelpful thinking.
Session 5: Preparing for the birth of your baby.

Additional focused research on the e-version of this course- has found very positive results with at risk mums to be – with significant reductions in low mood (led by Professor Rebecca Reynolds of the University of Edinburgh). A large scale RCT of the self-directed online resources is underway in Finland led by Professor Katri Raikkonen of the University of Helsinki.

A resource for health and social care workers including midwives, health visitors, perinatal mental health services, obstetricians and obstetric services, voluntary sector organisations, primary care based workers, IAPT staff working with parents to be – especially those who are struggling with low mood or stress or are have experienced low mood or stress previously.

Class license: This licence provides access to all the teaching resources you require via an online trainer portal. This includes slide sets, trainer notes to accompany the slides, and handouts for attendees.

Teacher/trainer notes are included covering what content to cover in teaching the skills and resources.

Licence to deliver: You will require a commercial (for profit) or non – commercial (not for profit) class licence to run the course. This 12 month license provides access to the essential resources to deliver the classes. Trainers need to review the license terms and conditions to check the course is suitable for them to delivery. Resources continue to be the property of Five Areas Ltd. Attendee handouts can be printed or emailed to attendees, but no other content can be disseminated. The slides and trainer notes are for use by licensed trainers only.

The course was originally developed with funding from the Welsh Government awarded to Mind Cymru and evaluated by Jenny Burns – Project lead – now working at the Mental Health Foundation.

Dr Chris Williams is Emeritus Professor of Psychosocial Psychiatry at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and Past-President of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). His main area of interest is making Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches accessible to all. He is an Honorary Fellow of BABCP and widely recognised expert in making CBT life skills accessible to all.
